Meeting This Week!

It’s almost the third Wednesday again… our August meeting is this Wednesday evening and we have a special treat: a chance to hear Amy Welborn, Catholic writer, author, and blogger! Amy has been a high school theology teacher, a parish Director of Religious Education, and a columnist for Our Sunday Visitor, among other activities.

Amy’s husband Michael Dubriel (also a Catholic writer and author of many good Catholic books) died unexpectedly in February of 2009, just months after they had moved to Birmingham, leaving her with their two little boys to raise, in addition to her three older children. She will be telling us her story of widowhood Wednesday night.  We are hoping that she will bring some of her books to sell. In the meantime, if you’d like to know more about Amy, here is her website http://amywelborn.com/, her personal blog http://amywelborn.wordpress.com/, and her travel blog http://booked.amywelborn.com/.

DON’T FORGET:  We are collecting children’s clothing for Claudia to send to Cuba. There will be a box or a bag in the Sodality Room (where we meet in the Family Life Center) with a sign on it for you to drop off your contributions. Here’s what is needed: toddler boys’ shoes, size 9 and up; toddler girls’ shoes, size 6 and up; spring/summer clothes for little boys, size 4T and up, and for little girls, size 3T and up. If you have any questions, email Claudia at claudiaelson13@yahoo.com.

Just a reminder — here is our schedule for Wednesday night:

  • 6 pm until 6:55: Eucharist Adoration in the church
  • 6:05 until 6:50: confessions will be heard
  • 7:00: Mass
  • 7:40: Confraternity prayers
  • 7:50: adjourn to the Sodality Room in the Family Life Center for announcements  and a presentation (followed by Q and A) by Amy Welborn
  • 8:30(ish): cleanup

If you have to leave before the meeting is concluded, please feel free to do so.
